Spartans dethrone the Monarchs 50-6

June 23, 2008 Cedric McFadden

Waukesha, WI – On a sunny clear afternoon in Waukesha, the Wauwatosa Spartans traveled to Ken Hollub stadium to take on the St. Francis Monarchs in an American conference match-up.

The Spartans were coming off of a decisive victory from the previous week over the Predators and looked to do the same against the Monarchs.

The Monarchs entered the game coming off of a Week Two loss to the Cyclones and looked to gain respect in this match-up.

From the opening gun, the Spartans showed why they’re a force to be reckoned with, as the Monarchs got a lethal dose of running backs Cedric McFadden #20 and Joe Brooks #24.

The Spartan ground game iced the Monarchs as both McFadden and Brooks ran wild all afternoon long. On the other side of the ball, the Monarchs were equally out-matched by the malign Spartan defense as they surrendered three interceptions and multiple sacks led by Justin Morrow and Joe Flick.

Monarch quarterback Shawn Geiger was knocked out of the game early forcing young Kyle Barney to shoulder the load. Barney showed guts as he bravely stood in the pocket and delivered some nice passes, one of which was a 74-yard bomb to Prinston Cameron for the Monarch’s only touchdown.

By game’s end, the score read 50-6. The Spartans, again, for the second week in a row, showed their dominance.

Up next for the Spartans is the (2-1) Roscoe Rush. This game will be a true test of how good the Spartans really are. The Spartans will enjoy this game next Saturday night in the friendly surroundings of Carroll College. Kickoff will be at 8pm.
