Mustangs receive Ironbowl XIII rings

Mustangs Ironbowl Championship Ring

Madison, Wisconsin – The most coveted piece of jewelry at this time of year made its way to Madison, Wisconsin where 50+ Mustang football players anxiously awaited its arrival. The Mustangs finally received their 2009 Ironbowl Championship rings from Jostens, nearly seven months after they defeated the Wauwatosa Spartans at the Wisconsin Dells Center in Ironbowl XIII. It seems safe to say, however, that the rings are definitely worth the wait.

The ring was designed by Head Coach/General Manager Adam Smith who wanted to make sure that the ring resembled something of great importance to those who receive it.

The Ironbowl XIII Championship ring is made of white lustrium and is from the Jostens Triple X Collection. The crest of the ring is made from a custom die of the Mustang’s logo which is encrusted with cubic zirconium stones. On both sides of the Mustangs logo are trophies which symbolize their back to back Championships.

One shank, or side, of the ring displays the Ironbowl score complete with the Ironbowl logo and the phrases “Back to Back” and “Champions”. The opposite shank displays a team helmet with the phrase “24 Straight” which indicates the Mustang’s dominance of 24 straight wins. The player’s name, jersey number, and position are also prominently displayed.

Ironbowl rings are purchased by the winning team and are given as awards to all of its members and players. The League does not purchase the rings for the team, but does offer special pricing since Jostens is a League supporter and proud sponsor.

The rings are to be awarded to the League Champion in commemoration of their victory. These valuable rings are usually made with white or yellow gold while being studded with cubic zirconium or hyacinth gem stones. They usually all consist of the Ironbowl number, the team name, and the team logo engraved on each ring.

Ironbowl rings are usually made by Jostens, a company that is known for making the National Football League’s elaborate Super Bowl rings. The Ironman Football League has enjoyed Jostens as a League sponsor since 2004 when it signed its first contract with the company.

Since 2004, Jostens has made a handful of beautiful Ironbowl rings which just keep on getting bigger and better every year. Jostens has designed rings for the last six Ironbowl Champions, while Balfour made the Ironbowl IV ring for the Milwaukee Panthers.
