IFL invites combine participants to an informative meeting

Hitmen huddle

The IFL will be hosting a meeting for all players who are interested in participating in the 2010 IFL Combine. The meeting will be at 7PM Thursday, January 28, 2010 and will be held at Mojo’s Steakhouse located at N88 W16495 Main Street, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. This meeting will be strictly informational as league staff will be present to answer any and all questions that pertain to the 2010 Combine. Participation Fees for the Combine will also be due at this meeting.

The 2010 IFL Combine will be held on Saturday, February 13th at St. Francis High School and will start at 2PM. The IFL has rented the full gym and weight room to adequately test and train its new prospects. The Combine will give untested rookies the chance to help improve their chances on making a team or to receive training camp invites from other interested teams.

The league plans to do similar testing that is performed at the NFL combine each year. Some of the drills that the combine will feature are the Pro agility drill, broad jump, 20-yard drill, and bench press. All teams are encouraged to bring any new prospects or veteran players to the combine to be tested and evaluated. Team owners are also encouraged to attend so that they can see first hand how their players perform.

The purpose of the combine is to accurately test the performance levels of new and current players of the IFL through professional evaluation of their skills in an effort to improve the overall competitiveness of the players and the league. The Combine is designed to give teams the opportunity to scrutinize a vast number of prospects through interviews, various tests and workout drills. Every team owner will receive a test result sheet on each player tested as soon as all the data is collected and evaluated.

The IFL does not plan to simply test athletes and then blindly mail or email the results to colleges. The league has specific contacts within the pro ranks that have experience in this field. Darius Jenkins, the league’s Director of Player Personnel & Combine Coordinator, along with other hand picked instructors will be on hand to individually test and lend their expertise to all the prospects. Jenkins credentials are impressive, as he has extensive experience in scouting and player development in both the AFL and NFL ranks.

The testing will be performed and recorded by combine employees. Their main goal is to assist all players and prospects and to record accurate and quality results. Accurate results are the rule, not the exception.

All IFL players who attend will be required to pay a small fee of $20 dollars; any interested player who is not a member of the IFL will be required to pay $40 dollars. All fees must be paid in full at the day of the combine. All IFL coaches, General Managers and owners will be granted free admittance.

All new players joining the league and all veteran free agents are encouraged to register for the Combine. Anyone who would like to register or obtain more information about the Combine please contact Darius Jenkins via email at dariusjenkins@charter.net
