IFL announces 2010 team line-up
After concluding its lengthy selection process, in which IFL management reviewed over twelve different new franchise applications, the League office officially announced Thursday night that the IFL will have a total of eleven member teams in 2010. The IFL is pleased with its overall competition level and is excited about the new talent that was brought in.
The newest members of the Ironman Football League in 2010 are the West Bend Junkyard Dogs and the Milwaukee Storm. The League administrative staff felt no need to totally realign the two conferences; instead the Junkyard dogs will go to the National while the Storm will represent the American.
The West Bend Junkyard Dogs were successfully awarded a bid for a new franchise in the Ironman Football League just barely a month after being crowned champions of the WSFL (Wisconsin State Football League). The addition of the Junkyard Dogs not only gives the IFL a very competitive franchise, but also strengthens its presence in the northern market of the state.
The second newest franchise is the Milwaukee Storm. The team and the name might be new, but the players and coaching ranks mostly consist of IFL veterans and proven winners. The Storm provides athletes with the opportunity to learn the game and redefine their skills through these valuable lessons inherent in football: commitment, accountability, and sportsmanship.
The 2010 conference alignment is as follows: The National Conference teams are the Muskego Hitmen, Madison Mustangs, Milwaukee Venom, Greendale Panthers, Fond du Lac Crusaders, and West Bend Junkyard Dogs. The American Conference teams are the Wauwatosa Spartans, Rock County Gladiators, Burlington Blue Devils, Shorewood Monarchs, and Milwaukee Storm.
The league is also thrilled about its contract with the newly renovated Hart Park in Wauwatosa. It features thirteen dates that the IFL will use during the 2010 season. The renovation of Hart Park includes brand new stadium seating and redesigned stadium amenities and features a state-of-the-art playing surface called Field Turf. This is a huge addition to an already impressive list of quality stadiums the IFL uses. Hart Park will be the site of Ironbowl XIV.
